The name Edinson Cavani has cropped up inside the Football Transfer Tavern once again, with John Drayton of the <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2309450/Edinson-Cavani-opens-door-summer-Manchester-City-Real-Madrid.html#ixzz2QZUh1mj6">Daily Mail</a> reckoning Manchester City and Real Madrid are leading the chase for the forwards signature.
<br />
The 26-year-old has managed 29 goals in all competitions for Napoli
this season, and has publicly said he is ready to leave the Stadio San
Paolo, putting a host of Europe’s top clubs on red alert.<br />
He told La Repubblica: “I’m fine in Naples, but in football there are lots of things to consider.<br />
<span>“I can only say that I will give my all in this shirt until the last day I wear it.</span><br />
<span>“Second place is not guaranteed, it’s up to us. We have to make it ours in the forthcoming matches.</span><br />
<span>“Actually, looking at the team above us (Juventus), not even the championship is decided. We will do everything we can.”</span><br />

The Uruguayan has scored over 100 Serie A goals, during spells with Palermo and Napoli.<br />
Manchester City have long been credited with an interest, with it
apparent they are planning a big summer clear out with a top quality
striker the number one priority.<br />
Napoli have placed a £50 million price tag on Cavani’s head – a price
you feel only City and possibly Chelsea from the Premier League would
be willing to match.<br />
But with managerial uncertainty surrounding Stamford Bridge, as well
as in Madrid, City will be hopeful of getting in there first with a bid.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17119307204143977746noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2940375762962097404.post-14764352790202597442013-04-17T09:55:00.004-07:002013-04-17T09:55:48.970-07:00Benitez compares Mata to Zola<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Rafael Benitez has praised Juan Mata for his incredible season with
the Blues and has compared the Spanish playmaker to Chelsea legend
Gianfranco Zola.
<br />
I’m not really sure why Mata hasn’t been talked about as a potential
Player of the Year contender considering his performances and numbers
this season but his manager has hailed his impact and recognises him as a
special talent.<br />
Quoted in <em>The Sun</em>, Benitez said:<br />
<blockquote>
“Game intelligence, that’s the key. Juan’s very clever,
finds space and technically he’s very good. He has good vision and
scores goals.<br />
“These players are difficult to find. He likes to play between the
lines, behind the midfielders and in front of the centre-backs.<br />
“Gianfranco Zola was this kind of player, not the biggest but he had
game intelligence and could get into the box at the right time.”</blockquote>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhae4K7kO70z_dqapKk_K_boHjieG8vlpzsO4cxxDU_mPAQLE7au15WW3YlvsrSeBIGCq4h80vErWeGDMRe0FhkWRAmSoN3qts0dA86FBzadSDRQz1lg5PW2-t3yzu-00nOjIOXRzCOMEI/s1600/juan.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhae4K7kO70z_dqapKk_K_boHjieG8vlpzsO4cxxDU_mPAQLE7au15WW3YlvsrSeBIGCq4h80vErWeGDMRe0FhkWRAmSoN3qts0dA86FBzadSDRQz1lg5PW2-t3yzu-00nOjIOXRzCOMEI/s1600/juan.jpeg" /></a></div>
<br />
He added:<br />
<blockquote>
“Juan has assists, goals and has played a lot of games.<br />
“When you are playing for a team who only play one game a week you
can be good but he has been playing two games a week for months and is
doing really well.<br />
“He’s a really good professional and his numbers are fantastic.<br />
“In terms of his performance on the pitch and in training sessions, it’s not a surprise because we knew him.”</blockquote>

The Portuguese coach has been linked with a move to Chelsea and Paris
Saint-Germain and those rumors will intensify following the latest
revelations from Manuel Alvarez<br />
<br />
"Mourinho told us that next year he won't be able to come and give a
talk to the coaches because he won't be here," the Canillas president
told <em>COPE Deportes.</em> "If Mou goes it will be a big loss to Spanish football. I hope Florentino sorts it out." <br />

"Wayne Rooney is one of the best attackers in the world," Ancelotti told
reporters. "I think it will be impossible for PSG to buy him. He is an
idol at Manchester United."<br />
<br />
On Sunday, PSG's former adviser Michael Moulin, who owns French sports publication <em>Le 10 Sport</em>, claimed a deal for Rooney to move to the Ligue 1 leaders has already been completed.<br /><br />“I announce to you from trusted sources: Rooney to PSG is done. He will be at PSG next season,” he said<br />

Trouble is brewing in the senior national team as the
coach has been recalled for failing to attend a technical committee
meeting while some backroom staff have been sacked</div>
Nigeria Football
Federation board member Emeka Inyama has said that Super Eagles coach,
Stephen Keshi has a query to answer when he returns on Monday from
California after the trainer left the country without attending the
meeting of the technical committee.<br />
<strong>it has been </strong> gathered that the coach has been ordered back to the country.<br />
"Keshi has been recalled and he must be in Abuja on Monday if he still cares about his job,” Inyama said.<br />
<br />

<br />
The Nigeria National League chairman cried foul about the way Keshi
abandoned the Technical and Development Committee for holidays in the
USA.<br />
"Keshi was formally invited to the Technical and Development
Committee meeting [on Tuesday] to discuss, among other issues, the list
of players he released for the matches ahead, his back room staff and
misunderstanding between him and some of his players.<br />
"But Keshi did not show up and [the NFF] doesn't know why he did not
show up. The fact remains that Keshi applied for a leave to see his
family and it has not been approved or confirmed and he travelled. The
NFF wants him to be part of all the discussions affecting his team with
the committee before he would be allowed to proceed to the US for his
holiday, but he chose to leave without permission.<br />
<br />
<br />
"But he had the
time to collect his cars from Globacom on Monday and jet out to the US
just less than 24 hours before the Technical Committee meeting on
Tuesday. We shouldn't condone what is bad. It will only take 120 dollars
to change his ticket from going on that Monday and to go the next day.
That is what we are saying. The meeting has a lot to do about his team,
Fifa Confederations Cup and 2014 World Cup qualifiers," Inyama said.<br />
On pruning of the Super Eagles' backroom staff, Inyama told Goal.com
that as a result of the lean purse of the NFF, the Federation has
relieved nine personnel of their posts while eight officials were
spared.<br />
Among the Eagles personnel sacked are: the two assistant coaches
Sylvanus Okpala &Valerie Houandinuou, team coordinator, camp
commandant, the media officer of the team and the psychologist.<br />
Inyama also confirmed the pruning down of Eagles match bonus as a result of the financial crisis facing the Federation.<br />

"You cannot just say, 'You and you and you'. The first thing, what
matters, is that they have to be convinced they can score," Benitez told
reporters.<br />
<br />
"We are confident we will not need penalties. But if we do need penalties, we have enough experience and quality.<br />
<br />
"I
can remember the 2008 Champions League final, but I don't want to talk
too much about that. It's not our problem now. Our problem now is Rubin
Kazan.<br />
<br />
Benitez also admitted that it will be challenging trying to combat
complacency, a plastic pitch and the fact that the 80,000-capacity
stadium is only likely to have as many as 10,000 fans all at once..... did i hear what!!!! plastic pith!!! wow, players like mata will hav to keep their feet on the ground to perform better!!<br />
read on.................<br />
He also said.............. "It will be a little strange. We will not get the extra
motivation you normally get from a big, full, stadium. In this sort of
situation the players can be too relaxed and go out there without the
proper approach.<br />
<br />
"So we have to send a message across to our
players and then hopefully at the beginning of the game they will
realise they need to be concentrated.<br />
<br />
"But after what happened for Tottenham at Inter and us against Sparta Prague, they have been warned.<br />
<br />
"We have to adapt to the pitch, although the new generation of synthetic pitches are better."
